A New Affiliation for Power Producers

Windsor, CT - 3/7/2003 - ALSTOM Power Inc. (ALSTOM) of Windsor, Connecticut and Automation Technology, Inc. (ATI) of San Jose, California announce their enhanced affiliation for providing boiler condition tracking software & services to the power generation industry. The affiliation takes advantage of the strengths of both companies leveraging ALSTOM's expertise in boiler maintenance and ATI's expertise in software solutions.

Under the new agreement, ATI will have the responsibility for product management and marketing while ALSTOM will provide complimentary technical services such as unit inspections and condition assessment services. ALSTOM's field service engineers currently use a version of the software to document inspection findings. Customers who use the software for tracking tube failures, UT readings, etc. can benefit from a collaboration with ALSTOM and a common database for all boiler knowledge.

"ALSTOM's desire to provide customers with the best tools possible has led to the formation of this relationship with ATI", said Ken Estvanik of ALSTOM. "Together, we have created what we believe to be the leading application for tracking tube failures and other boiler conditions. With ATI providing the support and care of the boiler condition tracking software, we are confident it will stay current with new technological advances, while we at ALSTOM can focus on providing the value-added technical services that compliment the offering."

"ATI is excited about ALSTOM's continued involvement with the product," said Matt Freeman at ATI. "We've seen that there is a significant demand for reducing forced outages by reviewing past history and tracking recommendations better, which is exactly what the software is designed to do. This agreement with ALSTOM formalizes our relationship and defines the role of both companies to ensure we are prepared for an expected increase in demand."

The boiler condition tracking solution was jointly developed by ATI and ALSTOM, and has been commercially available for several years as DocKit™ equipment assessment software for boilers. It utilizes ATI's powerful AWARE™ Software that has been configured to track conditions, procedures, and data on all types of highly engineered equipment. The

AWARE™ Software is installed at numerous utilities around the world, and is used by ALSTOM's boiler field service engineers. AWARE™ Software helps manufacturers of complex equipment work with their customers to make decisions in a timely manner, seeking to ensure reliable equipment operation and increased availability. When configured for tracking boiler conditions, AWARE™ Software provides utilities with a tool to manage data and analysis related to tube failures, inspections, UT readings, etc., for an individual boiler or for an entire boiler fleet.
